Atlanta Airport
Here I go again, on my way from one end of the airport to the other. It never fails, so the following must be one of the unwritten rules of the universe.
The less time you have between connecting flights, the further away the arrival and departing gates will be from each other.
So, if my first flight is late, and my 40 minute time between flights has been reduced to 15 minutes I can be guaranteed that I will land at E1 and have to get to A31. This means that not only do I have to walk the entire length of the terminal; I have to travel on the underground the entire length of the airport.
This is sort of like the guarantee that I will pick the line at the check out counter following the lady who can't find her checkbook or someone else who has 37 items in the 10 items only line. Don't you just love it when this happens? Sometimes this makes me just want to scream.
Have you ever stood in line behind a person who is chatting with the cashier and the following conversation occurs?
"Oh, I didn't know that was so expensive, I don't want it now".
"That price is wrong; it should be 2 for $3.00".
"Can you do a price check on that one?"
"Did I tell you my son hit a homerun last night?" (They don't even know each other)
Ok, so I can tolerate this (sometimes I even listen). My patience is still in tact. Then the cashier tells the customer the final total.
Then AND ONLY then does the customer start looking for the checkbook; takes everything out of her purse, and then finds it. But wait, they put everything back in their purse and then start to write the check. "Do you have a pen?" "How much was that again?"
I just can't understand this. Did the customer not realize they were going to have to pay? Did they think I was going to do it for her? Has she never gone grocery (or whatever) shopping before and this is a big surprise that she had to pay? I think NOT! This is where I begin to fall apart. Sometimes I feel like walking up to the ATM machine and just paying for it to put me out of my misery! Maybe that is the plot all along?!
Anyway, back to the airport story. So, this day was a bit different. I was late arriving into Atlanta but my flight leaving for my next destination was also late. So, I took time to walk the entire length and width of the airport. It is actually a peaceful and isolated stroll if you have the time and want to avoid the crush on the underground.
This is where I took these pictures - between terminal A and T (or A and B - I can't remember for sure). There is all this artwork that is rather unique. I guess I am not a real art connoisseur because I think some of it is sort of ordinary. I am not sure what the really big foot is about. So, look at the pictures and judge for yourself.
