Travel home, day two!

It was 11:30 and I had to have a 4:00 am wake up call for a 6 am flight. I got to my room and called Delta about my baggage. I was asked if I wanted the bag sent to Raleigh. I asked why I would want that because I didn't even want to go to Raleigh. I wanted to go to Orlando so I suggested they send the bag there. The Delta representative said my bag was all set to go on the next flight out of JFK straight to Orlando. How nice. Why didn't I believe them? Read on, my skepticism was accurate.

About one minute after I hung up with Delta baggage claim my cell phone rang. It was someone in Minneapolis. They asked me if I had their suitcase. I said no, I don't even have my own suitcase. He said I was luckier than him, because he had my suitcase and at least now I knew where it was. He called me because his suitcase looks just like mine and he wondered if I had picked his up by mistake. I didn't but asked to speak to a baggage agent in Minneapolis. I got a promise they would enter the information about my wayward suitcase into the system.

I called Delta baggage service back and to let them know where my suitcase was, that being Minneapolis. Apparently I was doing a better impression of Sherlock Holmes than they were doing to locate my poor little suitcase. I also was wondering what computer system they were using if they thought JFK was in Minneapolis.

My attempt to explain the situation was so sad, but funny at the same time. I said I knew where my bag was. They said that was great, they didn't have to look anymore. I said, no, you still need to get it to me. They asked what the problem was if I was in Minneapolis and so was my suitcase. I said I wasn't in Minneapolis, I was in Raleigh.

They asked again how I knew where the bag was. I said some fellow called me. They asked who. I said I didn't take his name, but the baggage claim agent was there and escorted my bag to the proper location. They asked what the proper location was. I said I had no idea, but I hoped is was in line to board a plane to Orlando. They asked why I wanted it sent to Orlando when I was in Raleigh. I sighed.

I explained I was going to Orlando. They asked why I was in Raleigh. I said I missed my plane - the second missed plane of the day. HELP ME PLEASE!!!! Finally, I got through to them that the bag needed to go to Orlando. I needed to go to Orlando. This must happen before tomorrow. I have to fly to Houston tomorrow. They asked if I wanted to just pick up the bag at the Orlando airport on my way to Houston. I said no, I might want to do some laundry.

This is kind of like the Twilight Zone. The two of us just passing in airports, never quite catching up with each other, my poor little suitcase and me.
