Niki and I left Huancayo on the morning bus on Saturday. We arrived in Lima that evening after about 7 hours. A little rest in the bus station in Lima then we took the 21 hour bus to Cuzco. My ipod and my travel sickness pills were my most prized items on this trip. An ipod is a great thing to have on any 21 hour bus ride but in Peru its essential. On the buses here they seem to think it will make the journey more pleasent if they play hideous Peruvian folk music, the WHOLE time!!
The bus weaves through the mountains on a single track road, winding round and round past snow capped peaks and giant lakes. Sounds gorgeous right? I wouldn´t really know I saw very little of it. Its not that I am lacking in wonder at the sceanery here its just that I had to close my eyes in order to pretend I wasn´t on a double decker bus that was constantly teetering on the edge of a sheer cliff!
Made it to Cuzco. Its Gringo city which was weird after spending so much time in Huancayo and being famous just for the colour of my skin. Too many hippy travelers for my liking so we got out of there shapish on the night bus to Copacabana, Bolivia.
