Work on the altar continued and all the sympolic pieces are in place. This is an altar made by the children at La Casa de los Ninos. The sand, the ashes, the marigold flower petals, the 6 levels of the altar, the photos, the remembrances, the fruit (bananas, apples, oranges, sugar cane, jicama) the sugar skulls, the pan de Muertos, the water, the salt, the cross, the candles, the incense. Stay tuned for an interpretation of Erica's explanation of the symbols. The Children drew pictures of those they wanted to honor on the altar. The Visitors on Sunday also were able to draw or write a card to remember their loved ones who have passed. Erika and Diana explained the altar and Annie interpreted for the Gringos. Tamales and Atole were served after the presentation of the altar. It was a lovely fiesta with a mix of locals and visitors to Lo de Marcos.
