food will cost say .50 lats which seems cheap but the exchange rate makes it double
Upon arrival to the city a drug sniffing dog gave me a little too much attention which required me to go to a room and empty out everything and get a brief search, thanks pooch.

My visit to this country was forced. I purchased a flight with Air Baltic and basically it required me to fly to Riga and than the next day continue my flight. So I booked a hostel and looked forward to my first visit to the Baltic region. It was a bit cold, averaging 0 I would say. The city is very beautiful, it is modern and full of young people. It could remind me of North America at times. It is very interesting to note that this winter for Europe was a very cold one, coldest in 30 years for some countries and some of the places I visited don't get much if any snow in winter, but this year they would have alot of snow. The people would complain about how cold and snowy it was and I would just think about those cold windy days in Saskatchewan and chuckle because I realized they don't know what a winter is!! Canada has had a warmer winter so perhaps my timing to travel was bad? The temperature has actually been perfect for me everywhere i've been. I have enjoyed the food here alot, it is weird because
