Where I stayed
St. Christopher's inn
It was a sad morning that day. The skies wouldn't even open to let the sun it. I wondered
if perhaps Morocco was sad to see me leave, because this was the first morning that rain
fell from the sky like tears...
Paris was never really part of the plan. I figured it was just going to cost to much, and be
full of tourists. Besides what could it offer to someone who struggles to speak english sometimes!
I had been told Paris would be everything from snobs, expensive, unwilling to help, but
beautiful. I found a flight with "Jet4You" from Marrakech for about 70 euro, so Paris it was
I stayed at one of the newest and most modern hostels my first night that I have seen so far.
The rooms reminded me of a train, the beds had individual curtains/lights/powersockets and
a sink. I met an Afghan and Mexican in my room, the Mexican girl had a very hard name for
me to pronounce so "Ally" was agree on! The afghans was even worse so I called him Hon. It
was Ally's last night an she was going to do some sight seeing and I decided that even tho
I was pretty tired I decided to take advantage of the opportunity. It was about 9pm and I
was about to meet the Effil Tower. After some delicious supper at some little sandwich
shack we made our way to the tower. To my amazement the first time I saw the Effil Tower it
was sparkling like a beautiful gem in the air! There were hundreds if not thousands of
flashing lights all over the tower and it truely was amazing to see!
The next day I had to find another place to stay and that turned out to be a challange as
everything I checked was full, full and full..
be the low season, but I guess not in Paris! After some good digging i found a place and
very happy and thought today was going to be a good day! That was shortlived, I headed for
some breakfast only the find that it had just ended. I was confused because I thought breakfast
was until 10... and my watch showed 9. Then I found out about the time difference and it
broke my heart I was hurt I sooo wanted that breakfast.
After a day of exploring the city as much as possible I discovered that Paris had some of
the most amazing pastries/chocolates and sandwiches! I don't know what anything was called but wow, the
pastries especially were truely a delicious delight!
Paris has exceeded my expectations by far. The people helped with what they could whenever they
for the subway :) and she looked at me, smiled and waved me to join here! I had found a
couple other ways to get on the subway or "metro" for free. It was more of a challenge I
guess than the actual 1.60 euro one way charge, sometimes there wasn't no one around to buy
a ticket from as well...I saw so many amazing structures, monuments, canels, statues and sights.
The most I have ever seen so far actually. I am now sitting in a train travelling at what feels
like light speed! I am on route to Berlin, Germany. The countryside reminds me of Canada, sometimes
there is a light layer of snow which I expect because Germany will most likely be the coldest
and most northernly place I visit. The fields, trees, snow all give that home feeling.
I am glad that I spent my two nights in Paris and look forward to the next place! It is a
constant challenge, high speed pace of events that are forming an amaing trip that I feel
very lucky to be doing. somedays I just think about the place I am in and how surreal it is and
a smile appears :)
