*side note* My college roomie started a little one-of-a-kind bag business. They are so cute (and affordable!) Check out her stuff (before its gone!) http://www.misoshop.etsy.com
Koh Lanta is huge! We had a reservation at a Lanta River Sand so they picked us up from the pier. (We stayed in a huge bamboo bungalow.) After that we had to rent a motorbike, a brand new Fino which everyone admired. We spent most of the days driving around the Island and checking out different viewpoints and beaches.
Some of the beaches are amazingly beautiful. And if you drive to the south of the island the beaches barely have any people on them. It is great to have a motorbike to find these places.
One night we sat on the porch of our bungalow and drank a couple big bottles of Chang (a popular, and cheap, local beer). We both felt awful the next morning, and not from the amount of beer we drank, but because I swear there is poison in that beer. I have not had a sip of that poison beer again!
On Xmas eve we ate dinner at a restaurant on the beach that had traditional Thai dancers performing. The beach was quite a scene! It was full of speakers blasting music, fireworks, and fire dancers. At midnight you would have thought it was New years eve.
We actually went to bed fairly early since we had an early boat ride the next day, except we could not sleep due to the noise. Fireworks were blasting, music blaring, and worst of all people singing karaoke around us until early morning.
