So we finally made it to Versailles and a big part of the palace was under construction.  So the front of it looked ugly, covered in a big cheesy scaffolding.  I liked the audio tour that they include with the price of the ticket, it makes walking from big, gilded room to another seem more interesting.  Some of the rooms are very impressive with fresco painted ceilings, huge fireplaces and artwork on every wall.  It is exactly how you would picture a royal palace (actually at one point it was just a vacation home). 

I don't know if it was because it was summer, but the gardens did not seem very lush.  The were very extensive pathways made from bushes though.  As you can see from the pictures, Chris was not very impressed with the gardens!

It is such an easy, quick trip from Paris there is no reason not to go check it out.
