After a couple long bus rides and a car ride we arrive to Tacna, Peru which is just inside the boarder of Chile. Once we get there we thought we were going to have to take a long bus ride to Lima, which we were fine with. When we tried to book our tickets we found out there was a huge gas price protest blocking the main highway. When we asked how long it would last the bus company said "this protest will last at least a couple days. Then after that a new one may start somewhere else blocking the highway." Since we didn't have anytime to waste the only option was to book a flight to Lima.
We could not wait for my family to arrive in Lima. My brother, Ryan and his girlfriend, Kortnee came from Seattle and my mom and dad came from Milwaukee. It was 1am on Father's day when they finally showed up to the hotel. They were pretty exhausted but we opened the champagne had to celebrate-we were so excited to see them. It had been almost 2 years since I had seen my brother! (Plus we were tried of carrying the extra weight. We still have 2 bottle of wine we had to carry!).
We had to wake up early the next morning to fly to Cusco. Our van was late picking us up from the hotel and we had to rush through the check in process to make our flight.
