The overnight train to the Argentinia border was seamless. Immigration on Bolivia's side was very quick. Immigration on Argentina's side was a mess! We were about 30th in line and the first tourists in line. After waiting for an hour a cop comes up to us and asks us what country we are from and then takes our passports. He contines down the line and takes the passports from about 100 other tourists. Then he has all of us stand in a separate line. We think he is going to speed up the process. Which he does for a lot of people. Unfortunately for us he took our passports first and piled everyone elses on top of them. So we were the last people called! It was ridiculous how long we waited!
The first stop in Argentina was Tilcara. This is one of a few small, picturesque towns in the North. They all have these rainbow colored mountians and cliffs (from different layers of minerals and rocks) running through them. Except we have no camera to capture any of this. There are a different hikes you can do through these areas, which we wanted to do, but decided we needed to go to Salta to figure out our plan and get a camera. Our original plan was to go to Patagonia and Southern Chile but after talking to people who had just been there we decided it would be too cold for us to really do anything there. And we were tired of the cold from Bolivia!
P.S. Los Molles is a good place to stay if you are in town. Relaxed, hippy owners and great views.
