Sucre is an UNESCO World heritage Site, so you think it would be nice. And parts of it were, but its not what we were expecting. The city is know as "cuidad blanca" for all the white buildings, and from a viewpoint above the city it looks nice, but actually in the city is so chaotic. The population is only 250,000 but it is busier than NYC. Plus everyone must have 15 children. There were kids everywhere, and due to siesta I think they only go to school for 1 hour a day! You could barely walk around because the sidewalks were so packed and there was so much traffic and pollution. It was not fun!
The good things:
1. At some local joint we had the best "Menu del Dia" we have had yet. An awesome veggie soup and chicken with a spicy sauce and rice for $1. The food was so tasty.
2. Mirador Cafe-a cafe overlooking the city. It makes the city look peaceful and they have games and great iced coffee.
3. The Movies and 25 cent popcorn. We saw one movie in the movie theater with our freshly popped bags of popcorn. We also saw one movie at Joy Ride cafe (which we also snuck in popcorn). The venue is great-huge projector screen and couches with food/drink service. To make things better we saw a great movie (which I hadn't seen yet) called Central Station. It is a heartbreaking movie from Brazil. See it!!
4. Cal Orcko Prehistoric Museum- A horrible cheesy attraction set up around rows of fossilized dinosaur tracks in a hill. The tracks are really interesting and the free guided tour is funny and sort of informative.
5. Senor Pizza-The name we gave the guy who stands in the plaza and sells personal pizzas which he cooks with a portable pizza over. The pizzas are $1 and are cooked way and tasted better than a lot of pizzas we had. Plus the old man hangs stands with his wife and kid and he is super friendly. You cant help but love him!
