We arrived Cochabamba at 5am. Just the time that you want to arrive in a new town, not knowing where to go and with your backpacks. At one point a girl ran up to us and asked us to walk with her for a little while to protect her from some guy that was following her (which there was). We did, but the whole time it was hard not to think we were walking into a trap and she was going to lead us into a big group of guys. And of course we had everything on us at the time. But we walked with the girl and we found a hostel so everything worked out okay.
We also arrived Cochabamba on a Sunday, which like most colonial towns follows siesta and the rule that nothing is open on Sunday. I think the only thing people do in Colonial towns on Sunday, after going to Church, is eat ice cream with their kids and then drink beers and watch soccer. We never saw anyone eating all day.
This town was pretty worthless, except for the giant Jesus statue we climbed up to. The reason we were here was to try and get to Torotoro National park. But as we found out there are only 2 buses that go there a week and to try and get there on your own is very expensive. So we did the only other good thing in town, ate at an excellent Italian restaurant. It is a very odd place to have the best Italian restaurant in Bolivia, but it truly was. This food was New York quality. It was so good we ate there twice! Yes, that means we were here for two nights. .
