For our last day, we started out by packing our suitcases and checking out of the hotel. Since we weren't actually flying out until late in the evening, we left our lugguge with the hotel and went out to see more of Hollywood. Since we had a 2 day pass for Universal Studios, we headed back to that area.
While Ally and Troy went on rides again, me and Nicola went shopping in the Universal Walk shopping district outside the theme park. After buying some more souvenirs, we went back to meet up with the kids and catch a show that we had missed on the previous visit to the park. We saw the Special Effects Studio which demonstrated some old-school movie effects and some high tech CGI effects. This show was good fun. After a quick re-visit to Krusty Land for another ride on the Simpsons roller coaster, we caught the train to Sunset Boulevard. I had been down Sunset Strip a few times before but wanted to show Nik the rock N' roll side of town that I loved in West Hollywood. I hoped that we could grab some dinner at the Rainbow Bar and Grill before we had to leave for the airport shuttle. Unfortunately, the trip took longer than expected so we only made a very brief trip here. I quickly gave Nik some of the history of the place and just as I was saying that this was Lemmy from Motorhead's local bar...I looked over at the front bar and there was Lemmy, standing at the bar in his big cowboy hat, looking every inch the rock star that he is.
I was really disappointed that we couldn't stay another night because the place was buzzing and Steven Adler from GNR was playing with his new band across the road later that night. It would have been a good night for the Rock district in West Hollywood.
We unfortunately had to hail a taxi back to the hotel, just in time to catch our shuttle to LAX for the flight back to Australia.
Our flights home went without a hitch and before we knew it, we were home again. I was really glad to see my girls again but I really wished I had a few more weeks in the US. It was an amazingly awesome trip!!!
