After a nice early start to the day, we headed out to do some shopping in Texas. Compared with NY, everything is so spaced out and almost every car on the road seems to be a pick-up truck. My monstrosity of a car would fit in very well in Texas.
Some of the awesome things I saw in the shops included a chameleon in the pet store (and other interesting reptiles and furry little creatures), and at the party supply place, there were so many cool things for hosting a Superbowl party (which is being held in Texas in a couple of weeks). I wanted to buy so much stuff including a giant inflatable goal which you fill with ice and store a case or two of beer in. it even came with an inflatable ball for scoring while you drink. I bought a very cool serving platter which I will use when I host a Superbowl party (whihc nobody will come to since it will be at 11am on a school day).
After a nice random trip along some freeways, we eventually went out for dinner to a steakhouse called Traildust. This looked like a huge barn and it had a no-tie policy. I of course, decided to be a rebel and wear a tie. Inside, there was a giant and very slippery slide right in the middle of the restaurant. Of course, 2 Budweisers later, I had to have a go on the slide. Me, Nik, the kids, and even Lenny the flamingo went down the slide multiple times. We seemed to be the only ones crazy enough to go on it.
The meal was awesome! The steak was the best I have ever had in my life (seriously) and I also had potato skins, ribs, shrimp, and some other things which were all amazing.

Not long after we had finished our meal, I felt my chair being yanked out from the table and I was lifted out of it by a burly 'sherriff' (he seemed to have an official looking badge on so who was I to question his authority). He proclaimed nice and loudly to the whole place that there was a law-breaker in the house!!! That would be me, flouting the no-tie rule. I was dragged into the middle of the line-dancing floor while all of the staff gathered around me, ringing cow bells. The 'sherriff then pulled out a pair of scissors and cut my tie right off. It was a good thing I had borrowed the tie from Nik's dad. Hope he wasn't too fond of it.
It was a great night and by the time we got home, I passed out straight away and slept like a baby.
