We stopped at a craft market and managed to get a Malawi chair and amazing carved bowl while spending almost no money. (great presents Mark/ Chris!). The guys in the stalls were even trying to get the shirt off Bruces back, he wasn't keen to let that go however.
We then had 3 nights at Kande Beach
. It is on the side of the lake, not that you would know it was a lake - you can't even see the other side! I went for a horseride through the bush and then up the beach. The ride finished with us taking the saddles of the horses and taking them swimming. Absolutely amazing, and probably not something I will ever get the chance to do again! While here we managed to catch the ABs v SA rugby game. I don't think there is any place better to beat South Africa than in a bar full of South Africans! We also walked up to another craft market, managed to trade some more goods and buy a few more souvenirs. The carving here is amazing!!
Other than that, we chilled out.....
After a few drive days we have finally made it into Malawi. We had a couple of long days in the truck, fairly eventful days at that! Firstly Gary, our driver, got stopped for speeding (by a dodgy cop) and tried to drive off so we then had the police chase us down, and then secondly when we got into Malawi he was told that his license was illegal but that the police wanted us to leave with the impression that Malawi was the 'kind heart of Africa'.
