After a cold night on the Crater, we had an early start to get to the Serengeti. On the way we took a detour at a gorge where the first human remains were found. We finally got to the Serengeti at around 12ish and stopped for lunch. This was the first time we had seen the sun!
We were camping in the National Park, so did a game drive through to the campsite. We were really lucky to see a Leopard asleep in the tree with it's kill, an Impala. We also saw more Hippos, Elephants, Deer, Gazelles, Monkeys, a Lioness stalking (who gave it up as a bad joke when all the jeeps showed up). She walked right down the side of our jeep, stopped for a quick look and I suspect went to find somewhere quieter to hunt.
There are no fences around the campground so we were given all sorts of information about getting our of our tents for the bathroom during the night, ie don't!
The next morning Bruce wasn't feeling too well so he opted for a sleep in while the rest of us started a 6.30am game drive. Again it wasn't hugely successful, but we did manage to see a Cheetah hunting which was very impressive. We went back to the campsite for lunch, collected Bruce and had a mad drive to the gate to get out in time. On the way our driver still stopped to let us see another Cheetah, Elephants right by the side of the road and more Giraffe.
It was a long drive back to our campsite for the night so by the time we got back we put the tents up, had dinner and retired to the bar. So much for me saying I was not going to drink!.
