Some romance at Palos
Entry 20 of 25 | show all | print this entry |
I went to Apollo's on Thursday night and the dancers from Miami were there. I caught eye of one that really seemed to stand out from the others. She stared back at me while she did her spins and kicks (it reminded me when I was 6 on Mackinaw Island). Once they were done performing and invited the crowd to join, I tried making a movie. I went out on to the dance floor to try and shake my bom-bom; except, when I tried dancing next to her, I remembered... I can't Dance!! So like an embarrassed little six year old, I ran to take refuge in the men's restroom. I returned to our table, which was on the dance floor edge. (Erlend, Sabina, and Bella (Sabina's friend) where with me.) I sat down with a sign of defeat. Sabina had seen this girl checking me out and her curiosity got the better of her. I told her what happened because of my 'being white.' She proceeded to grab my hand and drag me onto the dance floor, right up to where the dancer was. They shared a conversation in Portuguese and Sabina filled me in aftewards... "Her name is Manuxa (Ma-nu-sha). I got her phone number for you and told her you think she is beautiful, and she blushed." However, there was one problem... she spoke no English.
