At the saint hilarion castle we had 20 minutes to look around which is not a lot of time. We climbed up such a steep mountain with very thins tiny roads which the bus dominated. The castle over looked Kyrenia coast. While the weather is nice, it's cloudy so we can't see the water too well. As we climbed up and down the mountain there was barbed wire and the training area for the Turkish troops. After we climbed the mountain and got off the bus you could hear the echoing of the firing squad in the valleys of the mountains. While we weren't in harms way, it was not a very welcoming sound
We than went to the Abby and had a tour guide show us around. Most of the Abby had fallen down during an earthquake and was destroyed. It used to be a Christian/catholic church and than was converted into an orthodox church. There wasn't a lot to see there but if you looked to one side you could see the mountains and if you looked the other way you could see the water.
Finally we went to the city and had lunch right on the water. I split fish and chips and lamb chop with Isaac and Randi. The lamb chops were so good but there was not a lot of meat on them. After over looking the harbor we went to the castle, which had the oldest shipwreck in the world. The castle was nothing special just four walls with a grassy area in the center but when you climbed the wall and looked down into the harbor it was breath taking.
