Today will be the shortest journal entry of the trip:
GUARANTEED! Today consisted mainly of checking out of our room and journeying
back to Christ the King. The only event worth speaking of was the blown tire on
the Mutatu. Entrenched in my music I felt a bumpiness that was both abnormal
and peculiar. Had we reached an undeveloped part of the road? Were they re-
paving? Or did we experience the worst blowout in the history of Mutatus? Try
to guess. A minute later we were all outside of the Mutatu to see the damage.
The tire was absolutely thrashed. It's amazing the rim was still intact.
Ugandans came out from all corners to witness a site perhaps never seen before:
Two dozen Mzungus and a flat tire.
Our trip ended three and a half hours later at the IC
house. Sarah and I elected to run back to Christ the King and wait for our bags
later. The run started off well...until it started to pour! While it was refreshing,
it was not conducive to good health. I prayed I would not experience
unfortunate repercussions later.
So far so good. It is now 7:30 as I recall the day's
events. If anything happens from now to the time I go to bed I will be sure to
let you know. For now, this is me signing off...
