Today is my departure from Penghu.
As my ship is only leaving at four o'clock pm I have some time to kill. After a breakfast, which I got from the receptionist lady in the Youth Hostel, I walk through Makong city and have coffee in the Panda coffee shop.
The decision on taking the ship or flying was a tough one. Having fresh memories of my very bad sea sickness on my transshipment from Matsu to Keelung last year I just pray that the ocean will be merciful and spare me the same experience. The ship departs on time and the ocean is mild, flat like the surface of a mirror - what a relieve! Nevertheless, to be on the safe side I stay on the outside deck
At 8:30pm we arrive in Kaoshiung harbor. I have no clue of directions from here. When I so walk down the road a taxi stops beside me and asks where I want to go. He already has 3 passengers and offers to bring me to the Kenting bus terminal in Kaoshiung for 150 NTD. Done deal. I have to wait an hour for the bus before the bus leaves at 10:00pm. The bus is crowed and people are stacked up to the roof. Luckily after an hour or so the bus spits out one after the other passenger and finlly I get a seat. At 1:00am I arrive at the final bus stop a few kilometers behind Kenting village. From there I walk another 3 km to the camping place I know from my previous walk. Formalities tomorrow, now I just set up my tent and sleep. Please no rain this time.

Ship from Magong to Kaoshiung
. Here I meet an engineering professor from the National University of Penghu. He researches in the field of robotics. He lives in an old traditional house near the ocean, far from Makong city. He is an interesting person and we have an inspiring discussion. Later this year he will move to the reclusive Kingdom of Butan, where he will take up a teaching job at a university. He really likes the off-the-beaten tracks places. At 8:30pm we arrive in Kaoshiung harbor. I have no clue of directions from here.
