Our departure time form Nanaimo is 10:15. No stops along the way, so we pull in with 25 minutes to spare. Nice little harbor and terminal.
The crossing time is 2 hours. The cost for the car and four passenters was abou $68. This ferry was a little larger than the Port Angeles to Victoria.
There was a light house that had to be photographed, and photos of the coastline. Talked to vacationers just starting out and were envious that ours was over, but wished them well on their travels
We grabbed some food in the cafeteria - the usual chicken or hamburg type menu. Basic but good. Then strolled the ship a little more. Once docked and in our car , it's a short drive to customs, which for once is not backed up (too much).
After clearing customes, we head down Route 5. We had planned on hitting a few wineries, but decided on the Gas Works Park outside of Seattle. This was an interesting concept to take an industrial area and turn the grounds into a grassy park with areas for picnicing, skate boarding, rollerskating, walking you dog, or just laying about enjoying the outdoors. Some of the machinery and building structure from the old Gas works remains, to make it more unique and interesting.
There are interperative signs to tell you what the huge monsterous piece of equipment was used for. The view is into the heart of the city, and one of the best views of Seattle I have seen. After walking and lazing around we headed for our airport hotel. It's late, we check in and decide to go across the street to a Pub type restaurant. Last night for fresh fish in Seattle.
Why does it seem that the last night of your vacation is always the pits?
