We're headed up to Sedona for five nights. But on the way we have to stop for cactus photos. Huge cactus photos and they are BLOOMING! Sedona is one of those places we keep coming back to. It's the rocks. Red. Hiking trails and climbing. Sunsets to sigh over.

This is John's first time in Sedona, so we are going to take it at a fast pace so he sees it all. We're headed up Route 17, pull into Sunset Overlook to see the view. Probably better at Sunset.

John has a flyer. Seems there is a new "arts colony" being built off  HWY 69 near Mayer. They sell wind chimes. Well, sounds interesting so we head down a long dirt road. The buildings combine ecology and architecture. It's a volunteer project.

.  There's the constant tinkling sound of bronze wind chimes. And a delightfully good bakery. We hit a hiking trail behind the main building.

Then head up the road, stopping to hike up the cactus filled hillsides. Earlier than we thought into Sedona, so we hit the red rocks running. And out to the airport. There's a vortex out there, haven't found it yet, but I'm hoping to.

Scampering up and down rocks, then over to a flat surface to sit for a photo. The camera is programed to take three shots in quick succession.. The third shot has us sitting pretty good - BUT there is this white "floater" in the air off to the side of John. Could this be my vortex?  T

hen some more hiking and absorbing the beauty of Sedona. The colors still amaze me. Check in at the Roost, a 2 bedroom/2 bath casita we rented for $130 a night. Nice, cozy and perfect. Run out to stock up on some groceries and make dinner. Then head to the Oak Creek Brewery. Stop for a photo of the famous Red Rock church at night. Tomorrow is a hiking day.
