The circa 1891 Historic Western Hotel is a step back in time. The upstairs porch which runs the width of the hotel is the place to put your feet up, read a book, people watch or just hang out. Since the hotel is on a side street (and at the bottom of the side street) it's pretty quiet.

The original bar with original paintings fits right into the Old West atmosphere. You can almost invision the miners coming into the bar after a back breaking work day and letting off some steam.

Today's a "poking around" Ouray day. These historic building just beg you to come in and look. So we did. And I found a "green" Ouray shirt in the stores that decided to come home with me.

We stopped at each street marker on Main to see what buildings were still standing and what "newer" business is now in the original building.

The streets off of Main have many Victorian structures. These were worth a few looks also. But what we've been saving for last is now in site.

Ouray's own year round Hot Springs. Pure water...no sulphur!

We're told that winter is the perfect time to come back and float in the steaming pools while looking up at the snow blanketed mountains that cirle the town. Ok, that's gonna be on my list of things to do! Now if only I can get a helicopter to fly us in so we don't have to do those show and ice covered S-curves!!

This is more than just one large hot springs pool. It's a series of large pools ranging in temperature fom 80 - 106 degres. AND there are water shoot slides and a mushroom fountain! I can imagine just flying down the chute in the winter while looking up at those snow covered mountains.

What was going to be a short stop at the hot springs became a lazy time of ahhhing, and do we have to leave already?

After a lot of procrastination, we knew we had to get out, get showered and head out of town.

Back on the "Million" we found another waterfall on the way out. And the Idadado Mine "ghost town."

Need to catch some sleep because Mesa Verde is tomorrow.
