At first glance Andong doesn't seem like much but we really liked it there. Maybe because the day that we got there it was beautifully warm and sunny and we felt like spring had finally caught up with us. We went for a long walk along the river, ambled around town, ate some unidentified tasty stuff at a street side food stall and went to bed happy thinking that the cold was behind us.
Our plan for the next day was to head to the 600 year old village of Hahoe, renowned for it's straw roofed houses, traditional culture and home of National Treasure No. 121 the Hahoe Masks. We woke only to find a cold, wet and miserable day. Neither or us were sure that the previous day hadn't been a figment of our imagination, so after our visit to Hahoe we decided to jump on the first train heading North with the intention of chasing the good weather and the fleeting hopefulness that had led Andrew to unpack his shorts the night before....
