As soon as we came out of the airport we went in search of a taxi - I told the taxi driver that we wanted to go to Gros Islet - which in itself seems quite straight forward - except that in true Australian style I pronounced it Groz Islet. The response I got was "Huh?" and a cupping of his hands to his ears. I repeated it several times before a glimmer of recognition flickered in his eyes "Ah you mean Grow Zeelay". Lucky for me there were no witnesses of this exchange.
