It was 5pm and we had one hour to travel 64km at a maximum speed of 50km/hr, a beeping fuel indicator, no credit on our mobile phone, no cash and lots of animals to be in awe of.

Five minutes after entering the park we were face to face with two massive white rhinos - now when I say face to face they were literally only 5 meters away and directly facing us - I was scared as hell and we quickly drove on. A few hundred metres up the road a huge bull elephant was stomping about and as we drove past he started to run down the road after us. Not long later,as it was starting to get dark we had to stop for a group of hyenas that had decided to sleep in the warm road and weren't budging for the likes of us. As we flew down the road it was like the animals were coming out to greet us but we just didn't have the time to stop - there were giraffes, all manner of antelope, zebras... Giiirafe

. Then at about 5.55pm we were speeding along and still about 10km out of the camp and there was a flash of an animal by the side of the road - both Andrew and I screamed out in unison "Did you see that?" and then "IT WAS A LEOPARD!!! IT WAS A LEOPARD!!!"  I don't think that I have ever seen Andrew as excitd as in that split second. It was to be our first and only leopard sighting. We made it to the camp about 10 mintues late and were lucky to escape a fine. We stayed in a rondavel cottage at both the Skukuza and Satara rest camps which are both well kitted out with a shop, restaurants, swimming pools, bars etc

We loved Kruger and unlike our normal behaviour we were up early every day and one of the first out of the camp in search of animals. We went on a night, sunset and sunrise safari in an open top truck and spent the rest of the times driving around the park ourselves. We saw so many animals (including the Big 5) and we were always in awe of them (although we did get slightly bored of impala). Very cool. We can't wait to get to the Serengeti.
