Knysna is a main stopping point on the Garden Route and it's easy to see why. It's a lovely little laid back town set on a lagoon with great restaurants, night life and friendly people.
Not too far from Kynsna is the Elephant Sanctuary - a place were they keep displaced elephants and help them to be reintroduced to the wild if possible. There are currently 6 elephants at the sanctuary - 5 females and one young male. We got to walk 'hand in trunk' with the elephants, touch, pat and feed them - it was very very cool. Andrew and I walked with the biggest and oldest elephant Mopani who had once been a pet until she got a little big and was doing about 100kg of pooh a day....
