We spent about 5 days in Mumbai and to our absolute shame didn't eat Indian once. We certainly meant to but conveniently had my Delhi Belly as an excuse and then just got carried away with the delights of proper 'Continental' food. Embarrassingly we even stooped as low as ordering Subway to be delivered to our hotel. One night we reserved a table at a lovely restaurant called Indigo and when we got there they had personalised the menus to welcome us - impressive.
There's not too much to see in Mumbai - it's more about experiencing the city. We strolled the Marine Drive from Chowpatty Beach to Nariman Point, visited the Mahatma Gandhi Museum, browsed the stalls lining Coloba Causeway and Chor Bazaar, had my hand hennaed at the Gateway of India, caught the ferry out to Elephanta Island and mingled with the richies at the Taj Hotel. It is definitely the most cosmopolitan city we have visited in India.
We could easily have stayed a few more days in Mumbai but were itching to get to the beautiful Goan beaches which we had heard so much about.
