Well here we are-It's our last day in Paris! Tomorrow we're back on a train to London to catch our flight home.
Yesterday went well with the trip to Normandy. Driving wasn't a huge issue at all since we had GPS helping us along the way. The weather was raining and extremely windy the whole day though. We were able to see both of the spots that Kerry really wanted to see (Omaha Beach-Where Kerry's grandpa landed on D-Day and the American Cemetary). After that, we went to Le Mont Saint-Michel (a church built on a mountain right next to the ocean). It was pretty amazing, and very touristy. It almost felt strange that parts of a church were transformed into restaurants, souvenir shops, and a hotel. It was a steep climb to the top but well worth it once seeing the view.
Today we ventured out to a neighborhood called Montmartre where the Sacre Coeur is (another church). This one was at the top of a huge hill that overlooked the entire city of Paris. Inside, we got to sit quietly for a long time-It was neat to be in such an amazing place on Easter. This church actually was a place we kept seeing from Paris hoping to go there sometime. Outside, it was VERY crowded in this neighborhood. We did a lot of souvenir shopping in this place since there were a lot of cute shops and art stores.
Now we are on our way for our final view of the Eiffel Tower at night. We plan to go to the top of it-We wanted to climb the stairs to the top but we both are pretty exhausted from all the walking around that we probably wouldn't make it! But they have a nice elevator that will take us there =). Just before coming to this Internet Cafe, we enjoyed a nice Turkish pita sandwich. We couldn't tell what kind of meat it was, but it was very yummy.
We hope our trip home tomorrow is smooth. We have to get on the Metro with all of our luggage to get to the train station, then we ride to London, then we take another bus or Metro to Paddington station to catch another train to the airport. It will be cRaZy I'm sure.
Can't wait to see everyone! Hope you've enjoyed reading about our trip. =)
