Lauren's Christian friends from South
Africa went to Morocco to be a missionary and was deported within 24 hours.
Tension with religions. We need tolerance.

Wohoo, man do I kind of hate the snow. We
went to Blue Mountain in Eastern- Central Pennsylvania today. Compared to the
insane prices in Vermont, rentals and lift tickets were one third the price of
Vermont's. There were so many trails with tons of options. I was satisfied with
the green's and eventually blue trails while Fabio was doing ramps and double
black diamonds, so it was a win-win trip.

It was only my second time snowboarding
and that one time I had been was over 4 years ago, I was nervous yet ambitious.
It took a few lessons from a few different guys at the top of the mountain for
me to ignore what they were telling me and just clear my brain and feel the
ride on my own. It took me two times down the mountain to have it figured out
then. For me, I had to think of it mathematically, thinking in percentages of
pressure in the heels and toes of my boots with the energy I had to exert. By
the time our tickets ran out that night I was able to do turns and jumps. I
still can sort of only turn left without switching positions but it's a work in
progress...

Fabio and I always talked about an array
of topics during the long rides to and from wherever. He vented about all the
things he didn't like about human kind and America. He is a very deep soul and
is in life to put others before him. He has one of the kindest hearts of anyone
I've ever met. He was upset over a few people that he was excited to see that
just didn't make the effort. He put it all behind him and said it was their
loss and tried not to let negative thoughts take over, he's a lover not a
fighter, that's for sure.

I told him what someone one, somewhere,
once told me: "your girlfriend leaves you for your best friend- do you stay in
and cry about it or go and have a drink with your second best friend?" I think
it's an airy was of saying to stay positive in every situation. Euphemism,
metaphor...something like that.

Vermont to CT, Along the way he
explained his belief that every single person in the world is really good at
something. He's unimpressed that Michael Phelps won 8 Olympic gold medals.
Fabio just figures 'Alright, his big talent is swimming, we get it.' Fabio says
his talent is putting people before himself. I agree and can attest to that.

I wake up and feel like I got hit by a
truck. I had been fully expecting it and preparing for it mentally. Having
dipped the toeside of the snowboard a few times I'd fallen forward to my knees
and arms so it even hurt to lift them. My legs hurt from using muscles harder
especially ones you don't usually use. My back and tailbone are a wreck because
I'd caught the heelside of the board in snow and launched myself backwards. It
was a full body rush of pain. I love the feeling you get when your muscles ache; it
reminds you that you did something.
