On Saturday I re-signed up for the trip to the Doi Inthanon National Park, and this time, I made it: awake and sober.  I did, however, forget my camera.  My group was 5 Polish people, a wonderful Egyptian-French couple, my guide "Molly" (not her Thai name) and her 12 year old sister, Year.  Year and the French lady took pictures of me and both promised to send them, so we'll see if I receive them in emails!

We drove 2 hours to the National Park.  When there, we drove up to the highest peak in Thailand.  Well, we drove near it, and then we walked to it.  Quite chilly--I loved it.

Visited the twin pagodas- one for the King and one for the Queen.  We were only able to go inside the Queen's one, as it was under construction, but there were beautiful murals all around depicting the life of the Buddha, and amazing gardens outside--mainly full of hydrangeas and rhododendrons Queen's Pagoda

The last stop of the day was a waterfall in the national park, which was chilly and breezy and beautiful.  I actually found someone else's video online that shows a bit from the highest peak, the waterfall, the pagodas, and the gardens here: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/846008/doi_inthanon_highest_peak_of_thailand/

The other stops that we had that this guy doesn't have in his video were the two quick stops in the hilltribe villages.  We stopped at a Hmong market, where Hmong people were selling some crafts.  We also stopped in a Karen village and saw women weaving, the biggest spider of my life on the ceiling (thin and black and yellow), and fields of rice paddies.  I'll be sure to post all the pictures if the girls send them to me!
