After a super rough day with the bears (I've moved on from 3 days doing Primates 1 and have now done 4 days with the bears, which I'll describe later), lots of us went out last night to Hua Hin.  Hua Hin is a city about 45 minutes away from us and 21 people all went out.  There's about 30 volunteers at the center right now, though the numbers change daily as old ones leave and new ones come.  About 10 more have already come since I've been here.

Anyway, one of my roommates, Sally from Australia, has her last day today, and another awesome girl, Trish from Australia, also has her last day tomorrow.  So we all went out and had lots of fun!  First we all got into 4 taxis and drove to Hua Hin.  We don't order regular taxis, because no regular taxi would be able to find its way to our little forest sanctuary.  Instead, lots of Thai guys that we know well are hired as drivers and we just pay them Emma, Liz & me

First we went to an Italian restaurant, which was decent.  It's just nice having a choice of what to eat, and having those choices include some non-Thai food.  I had spinach-cheese tortellini--CHEESE is definitely something I miss; I never eat it here.  I had some really fun girls on my end of the table, again, mostly British and a few Aussie.

Then we walked to one of these massive outdoor markets and looked around a bit, but also went to go see an outdoor jazz concert.  Somehow we walked up behind the stage and then just stayed the entire time by the side, really up close to the performers.  The music was really good.  Dr. Yoh, the vet, who's a fun young guy, came with us and he loves the main jazz guy (whose name is Goh I suppose?).  Goh also had a guest star--someone named Jennifer Kim, whose face looks 20 but she's in her 50s and a super Asian star.  Marnie (the other American girl my age) and I figured she's like the Thai Tina Turner.

We took another taxi to this big bar area for drinks, but didn't stay too long there.  We still had the 6 am wake-up the next day!  "Weekends off" don't exist here--you get one day off and it's at your choosing, and mine already happened on Thursday.  So I'm back to work feeding baby bears and cleaning up lots of bear poop!  Pictures should be included.
