Before we even got to Nuremburg the adventure began. Half way through the drive we got a little hungry. Stopping at a truckstop we picked up some McDonalds (The only time so far) and after eating was on our way. Chris then noticed after driving for a few minutes on the highway how windy it was….maybe because I forgot to close the side door of the van. Needless to say we pulled over and closed the door and sadly…I lost a flipflop….poor flip flop! I loved those comfy flippyfloppys and gone forever!

Well once we got to Nuremburg it was all about the hockey game! A little backstory…Chris spent a year playing NHL09 (Playstation) online with his friend Danny. At first they changed their jerseys quite often but they eventually stuck with the Sinupret Icetigers (due to the lime green helmets)…This team happens to be in the german league and is the home team to Nuremburg! So we just couldn't pass up the opportunity to watch a home game of our beloved team!

The local fans are intense. Coming in full fan gear of scarves, jerseys, flags and some even brought tamtams that were miked up to increase the energy of the crowd! Me and Chris got scarves and a pretzel and beer and sat to enjoy the game. First of all, the germans know how to cheer!!! An arena seating maybe 10000 with more cheering then a Habs game! Each player was announced and all the fans chanted their last name! They had intricate drumming and clapping cheers! It was really fun to get into even though we couldn’t always follow or understand! By the end we were swinging our scarves around and shouting the players names! There was even an ex hab on the team (Andre Nasredine) who scored a goal for us! To make the night even better we won 6-2 with some awesome goals and awesome saves!

Very happy with our decision to return to Nuremburg for the hockey game we left the following morning for Vienna. It was a long trip so we cut it in half and spent a night in Linz, Austria. Another gorgeous place to pass right on through!
