Hello everyone!

Sorry it's been a few days since my last entry but both me and Chris have had a really bad cold! Chris thinks he caught it from the air conditioning at the hostel and I know I caught it from him! Although we have been sick we have had quite an exciting last few days and we are trying to enjoy every moment of it! As Chris said "I’d rather be sick and in Italy then taking a sick day at work"!!

Lets start by mentioning we are now in possession of our WickedCamper! You can call it me and Chris’s first home together! Its pretty cool…the design we got is called ICE AGE and has an adorable penguin on one side and a confused/angry looking polar bear on the other side! The back says “Live every day as if it is your last…because one day you will be right!” Haha…not anytime soon though….dont worry moms! We do get quite a few looks while driving which is fun! When we open the trunk there is a kitchen space which is quite workable! It came with a Camper Burner to cook stuff on and boil water! It also came with a set of cutlery and plates and stuff! We even have a wine opener if we feel like getting festive! In the middle of the van is the storage and the mattress which is surprisingly comfortable! We stopped at IKEA and got a big Duvet and some pillows! We have only slept in it one night so far but it seems like we will defiantly enjoy it in here!

How enough about the camper, more about the trip! We got the camper on Tuesday and left immediately! Our friend Justin (From Australia) was going to Genoa also so we told him to jump in the back and come for a road trip! The trip from Barcelona to Genoa was a long one but it was fun and we both took a nap in the back while Justin kept the driver company! The rainy weather in Barcelona followed us on our 12 hour drive all the way to Genoa! It was a continous downpour and not the easiest to see but we took it slow! (It was supposed to be an 8 hour drive so we were being verrryyy careful!  We stopped in Marseilles to eat but unfortunately our drive along the coast was mostly in the rain and in the dark so we didn’t get to see the beautiful coastline of France\....Maybe we will get a chance to drive back along there eventually! We made it to Genoa at 3am and dropped Justin off at his Hostel…which was on top of \mountain! We found a nice place to park on the mountain and slept all night! Driving 12 hours in the rain is not the best for your health so obviously the next day me and Chris weren’t feeling to hot! We decided to go to the hostel for a couple nights of recuperation! Unfortunatly we were both tired and drained of energy and didn’t get too much of a chance to go into the city of Genoa.

We did go to the lookout on top of the mountain and have a small picnic! What a breathtaking view! That made us both feel like a million bucks!....until….We were alllllll ready to go  back to the hostel when…on nooo…..where are keys…on the front seat…open the door….oh no…all the doors are locked!!! Hahaha!!! Okay so heres what we did! The sunroof was open a smidgen but the inside cover was closed! So I became spiderman and with Chris’s help I got onto the roof (Which was black and in 25degree heat…HOT) The roof was so hot Chris had to take off his shirt so that I could put my hands on it! When I got on the roof I had to slowly pry the inside of the sunroof open through that little crack I could stick my fingers through (Thank god I have small hands) I got it open a little bit but then it stuck….so Chris found a branch and I used that to pull the rest of the cover open! Now we have a great view of the keys on the front driver’s seat but still no way of getting them! Our initial attempts to open the door using a stick through the sunroof failed! Then a stroke of genius! I took Chris’s headphones and tried to hook his headphone around the keys….no success! But wait…Chris’s stroke of genius…Tying my earphones to his Swiss army knife and leaving the bottle opener part open we managed to hook onto the key and pull it slowly back up through the sunroof into my reach!!! 30 minutes later and disaster averted! What teamwork! Never a moment of panic! And thank god because the phone number for assistance was locked in the van too! Lesson learned….Chris always makes sure he has the keys and we have written the emergency number in various places!

Well I guess that event drained me because that night I am pretty sure I was a feverish mess so I spent the rest of the day asleep recuperating but it was worth it! We didnt get to spend too much time enjoying Genova but it was a great relaxing place to be while getting over our colds.

On to Verona....
