Hello everyone!

Sorry it's been a little while since my last entry but I’ve been a busy travelling girl! We have been go-go-go since leaving Paris but that’s a good thing! I can’t deny that my legs aren’t exhausted from all the walking we have been doing but I feel great and I think we are both relaxed and excited for whatever comes next!

We left Paris on Tuesday, September 8th. Mononcle was kind enough to drive us to the airport and it was just a hop, skip and a jump to Barcelona! We arrived at our hostel (HelloBCN) at 2am so we crawled into our bunks (I got the top, yay) and went to sleep! The first 2 nights we had different roommates that came and went at night and in the morning. Now we have 2 awesome roommates who we have fortunately quickly become friends with! One guy from Philadelphia who just moved to Spain and another guy from England who wanted to do a little travelling! It’s really nice meeting people from all over the world and our hostel is a great place to do it! Chris is even getting the required Friday "Man Night" since he is out with the guys while I am writing this! Its nice to be able to spend some time apart and feel comfortable and safe!

Well now its time to talk about Barcelona, Spain! What an enjoyable city! The weather has been perfect since we arrived! 29degrees everyday and hardly a cloud in the sky! Its not very humid here so it doesn’t feel overwhelming and the sun isn’t insanely strong so no burnt skin yet! The city is beautiful and has a wonderful mix of old buildings and architecture with modern day city life! This is defiantly a tourist city and is buzzing with people from all over the world! The main street, La Ramblas, is always packed with people and has many restaurants, souvenir shops and street performers! Definitely have to be careful about our bags though…we have heard many pick pocket stories from all the travelers that we have met!! The food here is on the more expensive side but its yummy and you gotta eat! Chris had a Paella which I think he enjoyed a lot! Drinks in the restaurants are crazy expensive (5 euros for a coke!!) but drinks in bars are really good deals!

We partook in a pubcrawl on Thursday night which was a great way to meet some of the people who are staying in our hostel! We ended up chilling with our roommates and a few other guys (From Melbourne and from California) The first bar we went to was free beer and sangria for the first hour! I picked my poison, beer, which in my opinion is the lesser of 2 evils and started to drink! Luckily I had my handy lollipop by my side the whole night which made the experience quite enjoyable! The next bar we went to had a list of over 300 shots! We have no idea if they actually made what we asked for because there was just a list of names but it was fun picking the funny names and asking for the shots! One of them had a candy at the bottom and thank god because it tasted awful! We all bought each other rounds and boy did that do us all in! (At least me) Chris bought everyone a “San Goku” shot in honor of our Dragon Ball Z obsession at the moment! We went to a couple other bars around town, steered by our guide Logan, and had a few more shots! There was supposed to be a club afterwards but I was ready for bed. Me and Chris walked back to the hostel and passed out! Didn’t wake up feeling too hot but we did wake up with new friends and great memories (Yah I remember most of it)!

The Beach! Oh the beach….its so nice waking up in the morning and walking the 30 minute walk along the marinas towards the long beautiful beaches! They are constantly full but there’s always a place to fit your towel. The water is chilly for 15 seconds before it becomes amazingly refreshing! The only issue is that the beach goes from sand to pebbles to sand in the water so you gotta hurt your toes a little before you can enjoy the waves! One thing about the beach in Barcelona is that if you need something, they are selling it! There are people going around offering clothes, towels, drinks, coconut, samosa, henna tattoos and massages. Me and Chris got massages today and boy were they worth it! 10 euros each for a 30 minute massage of our backs and legs. Right on the beach! Talk about relaxing! What a great way to start the day…a couple hours on the beach then touring the city and some good food and then chilling with some new friends downstairs in the lounge. I could do this for a long time!

We also went to the Picasso museum today. Beautiful walk to get there and then some beautiful artwork. I wish I could have taken pictures (I took a few before they told me to stop, oops) It was really interesting to see his art evolving. Im not a huge art fanatic but I appreciated his work, especially the later years when he painted with a lot of color and texture. It wasn’t a long exhibit but its always nice to get in a little culture after lounging around on the beach!

Tomorrow we are hoping to catch a handball game at the sports stadium! That would be really cool to see and maybe there will be a handball store so I could buy something! On Sunday we are going to check out the works of Gaudi! He is the famous architect who designed many buildings in Barcelona. His designs are very strange and intriguing. He died almost 100 years ago but his designs are still being finished today because they are so intricate! We already visited one of the churches from the outside but we would like to go inside for a better view and explanation.

Well that’s Barcelona so far! We will be getting our van next Tuesday and I am excited to see it and get started travelling! Can’t wait for more adventures to come!

Love you all!
