Hello everybody!

Back in Paris from a nice trip through Normandy! A great way to get a feel for the road and get used to driving around just me and Chris! Although on this trip we had my Uncles handy lil GPS which now that we think about it might be a great investment! It really came in handy when trying to find gas stations and hotels! It also lead us into a few parking lots but we forgave and forgot after it took us to the right destination!

Well after getting a good nights sleep in Caen we set out on a tour of the Dday Beaches! We went all along the coast through Juno Beach where the Canadians landed to Gold Beach where the Britich landed and lastly to Omaha beach where the Americans landed. The beaches were very nice and stretched on all along the coast. It was a beautiful day but unfortunatly me and chris left our bathingsuits back at the hotel so no swimming for us....the water was a tad cold anyways! There was a lot to see and there were some pretty nice monuments for the Canadians who fought at Juno Beach. There isnt much left to see besides some old bunkers but it was crazy to think of what it must have lookes like 65 years ago!

We ended the day at PointeDu Hoc which was attacked by the Americans because of the large German fortifications. It was amazing to see this place due to the huge craters everywhere in the ground from the artillery of the american ships! The craters are now overgrown with grass and bushes but I can only imagine what it looked like back then! There are still many of the bunkers and gun posts left standing or half destroyed which were fun and slightly creepy to go into!

It was a long day with no nap on the horizon so we grabbed some delicious seafood (what else is there to eat when your on the coast) and drove back to Caen to flop into bed!

The next day (tuesday) we drove to Granville. A small coastal town near Mont St Michel! We got a cute but cheap little hotel room right on the beach. It was a great place to walk around and relax. A funny thing about the harbour is that the boats all park in the water but when its low tide they sink into the sand and are grounded! Happens twice a day and is a funny sight to see! We even went to an aquarium which had the most amazing shell artwork Ive ever seen! A cool little fact about Granville is that Christian Dior was born there! There is even a museum dedicated to him! (Sorry Tanya I wanted to go just for you but ran out of time)!! Not much to do in Granville so the next day we moved onto Mont St Michel!

Mont St Michel! What can I say...its big...its breathtaking...its a little shocking when you see it on the horizon! First off, its in the middle of absolutely nowhere, surrounded by flat fields it shoots up out of the ground so ominously! The only thing around are hotels for the tourists (thats us) and a long road up to Mont St Michel! The tide was low when we got there so it wasnt an island in any way. There were ppl walking across the sand everywhere! We walked up and around Mont ST mIchel and did a tour of the church and buildings. Its hard to describe in words how Epic this place looks! Its too bad it was a rly rainy night because we wernt able to go see it in the dark but we were happy we got to see it in the first place!

Now we are back in Paris and relaxing a little bit before we make our next move to Barcelona next Tuesday! Its late here and time for bed! Tmr Ill be seeing my mom which definatly makes me happy so Im going to go get some rest! Have a great night everyone and until next time!
