Where I stayed
It getting close to the end of our first week here in Orlando now. I love it ere. Today we went to my fave theme park so far, Islands of adventure.
The shuttle left our hotel at bout 8.55 which was a bit earl for us but it was a definitely a good idea. When we reached the park we realized how close it was to our hotel and also how close Universal studios was to Island of adventure. The only thing separating them was City walk. Which is a street filled with shops, restaurant and entertainment.
When we got into the park it seemed like a good idea to get on the big rides quick while the queue times were down. We were amazed when we first got to the Incredible hulk as its queue time was only 10mins. We rushed over to the lockers, which the park had provided free for the duration of the ride and ran up queue line
This ride was not what i expected. We began moving up the tow track in a tunnel slowly until we were nearly at the top, then it fired us forward taking me by complete surprise. It was a rattley ride and i came off with a headache but it was worth it.
We thought it would be a good plan next to head for the Dragon Challenge formally known as The dueling dragons. we expected this to be busy. But we were not prepared to not be able to get into that section at all. Although i guess it was in Harry Potter world. We were issued a ticket with a return time slot on it and ask to come back.
So thinking again with our stomaches we decided to head for some food. I had noticed a leaflet as i came into the park advertising all you can eat in the park for £19.99. So we checked this out and decided it was a good idea. We purchased this and then had to wait till half 10. We sat around looking humorously around at all the people waiting to purchase food not realizing that we were one of them. We could order food we ordered a cheese burger patter, didn't realize till after that this included dessert and and free salad bar. It is impossible to watch what you eat here they just throw food at you
Being full yet again we went on the Jurassic park river adventure. We sailed through dinosaur enclosures looking at the lovely dinosaurs before something went wrong they escaped and started running riot. We had it all under control until the t-rex showed its face. Scared out of our wit we were dropped down and plunged into the water. Socking wet we returned back to exit the ride where we were applauded for our efforts by the staff. A little boy on the ride had me in stitches when he replied "y'all think this is funny, people nearly died out there",
Now soaked and wishing it was a less cloudier day. It was time to head to Nicky's dream place, The wizarding world of Harry Potter. As we got in we saw the Hogwarts express, which we would later get a picture with, Zonkos, Honeydukes, Owl Post, Olivanders and a little stall selling butter beer. We had to try some and I'm glad i did it was yummy. It was like cream soda but brown with a creamy vanilla head, very very nice but also sickly after a while.
We noticed pretty early on that the Dragon challenge only had a 5min wait which was crazy due to how many people were in the park, so we rushed to get on it quick as we wanted to go on both the Hungarian Horn tail and the Chinese Fireball
Walking after to Harry Potter and the forbidden journey (which is in the Hogwarts Castle) we were disappointed to notice that it had a 60min wait, but we had time so we joined the queue (i don't think Nicky would have been best pleased if we hadn't). I have to say though about 90% of the ride was excellent. It apparently has new robot arm technology inside and my verdict on that is very good. But it has to be said though i still think it is the most terrifying ride ever. I was enjoying flying around following Harry around the Hogwarts grounds toward the quidditch pitch, on which we were due to play a game so i believed. We Vaguely made it there in the end though after coming across the spiders and dementors. Dementors i can cope with but spiders that spit water in your face i can't. That was showed clearly in the picture take by me with my eyes closed trying to hide behind the restraints.
To thank me for being brave and going on the terrifying ride with her, Nicky bought me some vanilla and ca ramel fudge from Honeydukes. I was very grateful it is yummy. All the shops were packed with massive queues out side of them so we didn't go in many more although i'm sure Nicky would have wanted to.
Feeling a little down hearted we made our way back through to toon lagoon to seeked out the crazy water ride we had earlier viewed from a bridge, Dudley do-rights ripsaw falls
So on to something alittle more tame Dr Seuss land. I had been looking forward to this since walking along some of the paths on google and this certainly did not disappoint. Wow the scenery is amazing there. We took a look around I man zoo which is a kids play area and the caro-seuss-el which was the most amazing carousel i had ever seen and ended up going on Cat in the hat as Nicky had never heard the story :-O. I was loving all the merchandise. It was so cute seeing little kids walking around with thing 1 and thing 2 t-shirts on, I wanted one but with no-one to be my thing 2 i decided against it.
As we had our all you can eat passes we stopped again for more food, i had pizza and crazy jelly. We eat at Circus McGurkus cafe Stoo-pendus, which was like a circus tent and had a ride going through it which had to be our next stop. It was a child rides but had great view
To finish our day we took a walk around the park one last time. We watched the the sun go down over Hogsmead while drinking butter beer before heading back all the way round to...More food. Yeah we just had time to fit one more meal in before we got the bus as 7.15, it has been a very good day.
