I woke up this morning at my parents house ready for the cup of tea and opening of cards ritual that takes place in my parents bed still after all these years.
Recieved a gps tracker, a book on australia, 2 memory cards and a luggage tracker which has really bought home how little time i have left till i go off on my exciting adventure.
I have to say it didn't feel much like my birthday. After opening my cards it was straight to work, business as usual, answering ebay questions, checking on bids and packaging up items (which was not without its problems due to the printer playing up)
When it finally came to leaving my house the stress started. My birthday travel jabs, Hep B, Jap E and Rabis were due to be administrated at 12.10 at stapleford Health Centre (which i have never been to before). I had to go to boots, pick up my jabs, find the centre and get my jabs back into a fridge within an hour.
Luckily my mum offered to drive me as my first problem rose when i realise i left my vaccination card back at my house. This caused a problem due to our tight schedule, which also included a long winded trip to the post office. Eventually, after a rather unhelpful call to the centre it was decided that would go on with out my card and risk what ever was thrown at me.
When i arrived a boots, making good time, there seemed to be a problem. My precription, although i had recieved a call to say it was ready for pick up, most certainly wasn't. A very confused pharmacist thoroughly looked through my prescription to try and put it all together, which didn't prove easy as some of the jabs had to be ordered in specially, and the pharmacist wasn't that familiar with them.
Eventually, sorting out the jabs and paying the rather hefty price of £240, (which was only that price because of the discount we received for my brother being an employee of the company), we headed off to the clinic with chocolate and sugary drinks on hand, incase i experienced the dizzy spells i did a week ago when i received my first lot of jabs.
We got there in plenty of time, but i was begining to worry about my jabs. They had been out of the fridge for just under an hour now and i was told to keep them while waiting for the nurse. I was seen ontime though, so i had no need to worry, and my jabs went alot better. Infact i hadn't really noticed they had been done.
All the chores out of the way it was now time to look forward to enjoying my birthday!! To the pub... for a meal with the girls (Mamma, Mum, Julie, Me, Molly oh and sean :-)). We met with them at the limekiln for our usual old folks meal and tea, and i enjoyed a beautiful rendition of happy birthday from the kids, while i eat my smoothered chicken and apple and blackberry crumble.
We then went onto morrisions to buy me a cake. Julie quickly pointed out a 'Hello Kitty' we was definitely the cake for me! Then, waving good bye to the kids we headed to my house to check up on it and give my neighbour my number so i can be reasured about my house.
We eventually got home around 4pm, feeling slightly tired. I have an evening of chinese food, films and drink to look forward to. Happy birthday me!!!!
