Just a short note, for work I travelled to Elmira Ny in Oct 2009.  It was a fun week, Elmira is a small city on the Southern Tier of NY.

It is quite a pleasant drive from Toronto to Elmira.  From Toronto down to Niagara and across the Lewiston Bridge. There is often a lne up, but Monday morning when I got there, there was nary a car on the bridge.  Customs looked bored and passed me through.  From there down through Buffalo and back up on the 190 to Rochester.

The I90 is an older road, but its smooth sailing.  Not a lot of traffic, and a beautiful sunny day.  At Rochester I took the 390 down to the south end of the state. What a beautiful drive. The colors were out on the trees, and about 1/2 way down there was on the horizon a wind farm with 20 or 30 windmills turning lazily in the wind.  One interesting thing, was that there were at least 1/2 dozen dead deer on the side of the road along the way, hit by cars. You seldom see that in Canada.

Arriving in Elmira, I checked into the hotel and went out for a drive around town.  Its a sleepy little down, running along side the Chemung River.  Both sides of the river are developed, and there are several bridges across the river.

First Night had dinner at Pudgies Pizza, greasy pizza and surprisingly good.
