Tuesday Morning,  after the long travel was a bit of a lazy day.  We took a walk through Lezo, and also went into Kalibo for some shopping.

Lezo is a sleepy little village.  It has a small market area, and a few stores.  However almost every second house has a store in front.  This is something that seems pretty normal in the Philippines.  Houses will have a little booth in front by the gate, or if the house is close enough to the road, there will be a store attached.  These are not stores you would walk around in, but a counter,  with things displayed behind the counter and you ask for what you want. Lezo has a huge church, very old, a small library, police station, health office and a huge pottery area, which is, besides rice farming, one of the main industries.   We did a walk about the church, and even climbed up to the top of the bell tower (no bell) and got some pics from on high. We then toured the Lezo pottery.  This is one  of the main attractions for this town.  As you see in the pics, the pottery is made by hand and fired in a kiln right there.

Just past the pottery is the Aklan River.  We went down to a small dyke that's there and met some of the school kids at lunch "Hi Joe!" (it seems kids there seem to think all whites are American, and are GI JOE. - I was called Joe many many times over the two weeks I was there.)

As I said, we didn't do much on Tuesday.  I got to know the family a bit and Allan and I walked around town a bit.  We took a Tricycle into Kalibo.  I have posted the video here.  Kalibo was started to get geared up for the annual Ati Atihan celebration.  The streets were full and the parade bands were starting to practice.  We picked up a couple of flashlights at a local store,  and went to Aklan Catholic College to meet with a classmate of Allan's who is now the guidance counselor there.

Then back to Lezo, and bed, tomorrow high school reunion and Boracay!!
