Drove to Mainz to visit Kristian's Grandfather and had a wonderful day and evening with his Mom's sister Connie and her boyfriend Joe. We enjoyed our visit with K's granddad had coffee with him and showed him some photos from our computer of our home and family in Toronto. Joe (a true audiophile..we chatted about music and I was so impressed with his knowledge) treated us all to a wonderful traditional German Pub Dinner and we drank ate and celebrated life. We discovered our mutual love of travel and adventure and I don't think I've ever heard such entertaining stories as Connie's "big adventure" around Australia. She still insists she found a true "gentleman" in Darwin. Maybe we'll bump into him?? It was so nice to hear stories about K's granddad and how he also enjoyed the outdoors, mountains, lakes and the scenery that Kristian has always been drawn to, a definite family connection. We ended the evening with a chilly stroll through the historic streets and I was captivated with the beauty of the buildings. Wish we had more time there but I'm sure we'll visit again in the future.
