I made my way from London to Malaga, Spain on wonderful Easy Jet. I have grown to appreciate the budget airlines that fly within Europe. This has also led me to think about North America and how it could benefit from such venture... you could jet to Vancouver then to Chicago etc. I could actually visit family and friends.

England wasn´t very cold about 8 degrees, but arriving in Malaga was wonderful. THe south of Spain is about 20 degrees. People are still sporting tuques and winter jackets despite the tan worthy weather. I on the other hand was wearing my flip-flops and t'shirts again. Its a bit breezy by the Mediterrainian, but I am not going to complain. We originally had the idea that we were going to head from Malaga to Gibraltar and then over to Tangiers (Morocco) but money is getting tight as the semester comes to an end. I suppose I didn´t have to buy gifts and so verniers (this word has a new meaning for me as I think I bought 37 packages of soup and possibly a jar of bigos(cabbage and sausage) home with me).

I meet up with Ania, Meg and Emily in the hostel/pension that they found in the hotel and beach suburb of Malaga. I realized that I am now beginning to compare Mediterrainian countries. Mainly in relation to wealth. Spain in relation to Greece is much wealthier. One noticeable thing... and those of you who have seen polish television can vouch for this... on t.v. they do an excellent job of dubbing, and there is hardly(only 1) any stations in a foreign language. Poland enjoys the one man who does the voices (without any feeling) for every character.

We spent our days in Malaga laying on the beach with picnic lunches. I might have eaten about 3 pounds of sand in the process. We watches the waves and listened to the water, as well as cowering from the creepy old men in speedos who seem to enjoy running along the shore. The shore was full with shells and I mean large beautiful shells. I am going to attempt to bring some home (and we all know that I collect shells and sand, but they grow heavy in my suitcase). We also went into Malaga proper and climbed a hill to a castle and saw the most amazing view. People were kite surfing and the ships were docking in the yards and the strangely incomplete baroque cathedral in the city century lay before me. We sat there for over half an hour basking in the sun and view.

After I met with the girls I gave them a present Debbie (from the semester) had given to me to cart around since Poland. Thankyou for the candy-coated peanuts. Speaking of food, I have realized one thing... when booking a hostel and poor, look for the word breakfast included. I realize that the word continental is often included with breakfast in these situations but this ´continental´is not what most understand to be. In Enlagn it meant - scary Greek jam on bread. Spain - Stale toast, a tiny muffin and all the espresso you can drink. Coffee is key. We, in the past, have been able to negotiate our way into free coffee and this is a heaven sent.

I am now off in a few hours to start my travels alone. I head to Barcelona for the day.
