What or who is Chestohowa you ask... well this weekend me Megan and Derek decided to stay within the boundaries of Poland and explore what it has to offer.

Apparently I forgot to write this blog so here goes...

At Chestohowa is house the black Madonna. A painting of pagan origins which has been adopted to become a symbol of Poland. The painting was crowned Queen of Poland. How you may ask does a painting become queen. Well.. it has the same pomp and circumstance as any royalty is bestowed. Though it was painted on wood, the picture is adorned with one of two gowns. The picture is self is very reminiscent of any middle age picture of the Madoona and child but is fabulously executed. The dress is adorned with jewels and diamonds and gold. It took me a moment to figure out how to categorize this sight. Every year hundred of poles make the pilgrimage to the painting.
