The Summer vacation season has officially ended in the States and we've ushered it out in style this week.

Giuseppe Sinatra Visits the City That Never Sleeps!
Last week we had a visit from a fellow RTW traveler -- Giuseppe Sinatra. Giuseppe is from Sicily by way of London but has been traveling through Southeast Asia for the last six months. We had a great time hosting him and pumping him for valuable travel information and referrals. On Friday Giuseppe headed out on the final leg of his journey - back to London. We felt incredibly fortunate to host such a wonderful house guest and can't wait to show up on his door step at some point in the future. Thanks, Nabia for helping us make this connection while traveling on your own RTW adventure.

Great American Weekend
As Giuseppe crossed the Atlantic we headed up the Hudson River for a Labor Day road trip 1. Giuseppe and the Gang at the Cyclones Game

. Our first stop was in Troy to visit Chris and Christin Knite (and their cute dog Batty!). We've known Chris and Christin since our days in Louisiana. It was great to catch up. We thoroughly enjoyed their generous hospitality and talk of "old times".

After our Friday night stay in Troy we drove to Stoner Lake (near Lake Caroga) in the Adirondack Park to spend the remainder of the holiday weekend at Marie and Dave's lake place. Newlyweds, Mike and Leigh, were also up for the weekend. Matt and I were so happy to spend this last weekend before we begin packing resting and relaxing with such a great group of friends. We took a few hikes, hung out on the deck, went through more than our fair share of wine and enjoyed some excellent grilled meat meals! The guys had a BB gun out in no time and were participating in a little target practice, followed by fireworks on the dock. Not to be outdone, the girls also took their turn with the BB gun but steered clear of the fireworks in favor of more sensible sparklers! I think the highlight of the weekend was captured on video (see above) -- definitely America's Funniest Home Videos material!

We headed home Monday morning refreshed and ready for the next month which will no doubt bring more momentous occasions including: moving out of our apartment, last days of work and more visits with family and friends!
