Now the fun really begins! Our apartment is filling up quickly packing material. We've got our running "to do" list which seems to grow by the second! To escape from the box invasion and celebrate our Anniversary (August 20th) we spent an enjoyable weekend in Washington DC visiting family. We were especially excited to meet up with Rebecca and Michael, fellow travelers planning their own six month RTW trip beginning in November.



I think we could have discussed plans for our respective trips for hours. We have realized that we've entered into a very specific sub-culture where people happily discuss backpack brands and the number of pairs of underwear needed for a six month journey (Deuter & Mountainsmith good/Jansport sucks - 3 pairs). A fun time was had by all and we're hoping to juggle our schedules to meet up in Thailand after the New Year.

On a completely separate note, because we have cancelled our cable to save money for the trip, Matt has spent lots of time on the net and has found a terrifically amusing site to waste away the hours:
