Hello there!  Well I have had a lovely few days following a very busy week of experiments.  Every day since last Saturday through this Thursday I was doing light scattering experiments ALL day.  Normally this would make me very happy since I love to scatter light...but it wasn't working too well.  After adjusting every possible parameter and burning through a large quantity of my stock I have determined that the instrument I am trying to use is just not up to snuff. Suffice it to say that I'm eager to get home and back to the instrument I know and love at CSU--I'm realizing more and more that it is extremely top notch and I got spoiled on it from a young age!

Anyway, after that marathon I decided to take the day off on Friday and explore Malmö for the first time!  The weather was just beautiful so I hopped on my bike with the museum as my destination.  Unfortunately I looked up directions to the wrong museum...whoops!  But I visited it anyway....all 1 room of it.

After I finished that (in about 20 minutes) I got back on the bike and decided to just ride around a bit and have an adventure.

First I found this awesome farmers market with live accordion music!  Imagine my delight :)  So I took a video to share with you--check it out, I'm sure it will make you happy!

After biking through a beautiful park for a while I caught a glimpse of the Turning Torso, an iconic Malmö building that sits right on the coast.  So I aimed myself for that.

After visiting the Turning Torso I went to the coast line and was happy to find that there is a bike path along it, so I biked along the coast for a few hours.  Soaked up the sun, enjoyed the seaside air, and observed all the Swedes.  The body of water is called the Øresund, or Sundet, or "The Sound."  It is a straight that connects Denmark to the southern tip of Sweden--I had to cross it to get to Malmö from Copenhagen. Øresund connects the Baltic Sea to the Atlantic Ocean.  And it is BEAUTIFUL!  Crystal clear blue waters.  I took a video of the waves...couldn't capture how serene it was with just a picture.  Enjoy that!

When I started getting tired and hungry I biked home.  On my way I actually found the museum I was supposed to go to :)  It's called Malmöhus Konstmuseum...I went to Malmö Konsthall by mistake.  Anyway Malmöhus is a castle which was built in the 1530s and now it's been converted to a museum.  I'm gonna head inside tomorrow and check it out, but for now here's a picture of the outside.  It even has a moat!

So that was yesterday.  Today I'm in the lab a bit but I did manage a quick trip to Botaniska Trädgården, the Botanical Garden in Lund.  It was lovely.  And for everyone who has been asking where all the people are:  apparently they are all here soaking up the sun!

Hope you are all enjoying life as much as I am.

As ever, wish you were here,

P.S. Dad, check this out:
