La Boca

Sunday we took a field trip to La Boca. It was our first time using the bus system, usually we walk or take the subway. Fortunately, at the bus stop we met a guy who spoke English (he spent the past thirteen years in Los Angeles) so he gave us some instruction on getting around. La Boca is the neighborhood in BA that was first settled. It is also the home to the most popular Argentine fútbol team, the Boca Juniors. These days, except for two colorful blocks, it is very run down and probably the poorest neighborhood of the city. We stuck to the two safe blocks. This might be my favorite destination in BA thus far on the trip. The buildings are brightly painted with a Caribbean flair. Also to our liking was the fact that many of the restaurants have live tango shows during lunch hour. The two people that we were able to see were amazing.
We didn´t spend too long in La Boca because, again, there are only two blocks to see. And unfortunately we probably won´t get to go again, because the weekend is the time to go and we´re booked from here on out.
