As soon as i entered the museum hall a big plaque striked me down with the names of the 504 victims, it made the numbers I've been reading real. It's a hot sunny day but i soon feel my bones frozen from within like I was on my first day in wintery Beijing. A picture of many dead and young children with their parents really dug in now that I'm a father, humanity at it's worst, something that happens too frequently.

There was a girl and what looked lie her grandmother caring for the gardens that have been remade into the scene of carnage before it was bombed out and ploughed to hide the war crimes, the little girl asked for money for the older lady who apparently was a survivor, I nearly gave in to her asking for some money.. I asked about another old lady tending the hedges if she had lived here too when the massacre happened, the reply was 'she's not good'.. The old ladies may or may not been survivors but this girl was trying to take advantage of the moment and only wanted her grandmother to cash in.. I turned and walked away at that point.

Chieng and I headed just 5 mins toward the coast to find a long beach with little development to fond me a hotel, the big one as you enter are the greedy vietenmese type, I was offered a roomfur 20 dollars which during a short conversationi couldn't understand upped to 25, I questioned what happened to the 20 dollar room and was told "ok, we give you good deal, $20".. I said too expensive and asked if there are any other hotels around which I was told "no other hotels".. The further south in vietnam it seems the lying grows. So whilst Chieng latched onto 2 other Austrian tourists, I headed up half a mile up the coast where I found a resturant with rooms behind it, I was offered a clean big room, with a matress on the floor, air con, but no ensuite for 70,000 Dong which works out at a little over $4.USD..

There were a backpacking couple staying here too, we are the only backpackers in town which is refreshing after the few hundred in Hoi An.. and of course they live in Finchley, right across the road from my brother, and the boyfriend wirhs in Mill Hill.. I traveled 2 and a bit years with hardly a person even knowing where mill hill is, then I meet 5 travelers who live within 5 mins of me within a week.
