i left gui'lin on a direct bus to yangshuo, the scenary on the journey is ment to be beautiful, almosrt like a tour in its self.. but for me the rain clouds were hanging so low that i could see nothing of the beatiful scenary that lay out in front of me, i did manage to catch a glimpse of some guy fishing in a pond about 3m squared.. If there was a fish in there he must had put it in there.. i can't see them doing recreational fishing here.

yangshou was too cold and wet making me miserable, it is surrounded buy such beauty and has appealing bicycle rides, cave treks and other activities that can only be fully appreciated if you're not frozen from the bones out.. This place deserves a return.

I stayed at monkey janes, it was ok.. I think there are better hotels available around the tiny town for a fraction more that would get you your own room to yourself.. It would of been better if there was anybody else there but am sure many backpackers have left or given it a miss because of the rainy weather forecasts for the next week or so..

to try and make the most of it I took an hour bamboo boat ride a little way down the river costing 60 yuan for the hour, the rain had stopped but clouds still covered many of the numerous karst peaks that surrounded me. After 20 minutes I unfortunately was shivering and ready to turn back. i left earlier than planned and headed for nanning to get a visa for vietnam before the offices closed for the weekend.
