The shops also suck in this airport and I bought some temparary Coby earphones that are as crap as their non-openable moulded packaging.. the plug has to be in a certain 90% angle to hear anything and I feel to tired and defeated to go back in the shop to change the $14us shitphones and will just take it as a loss.. I think I got bumped on changing a $105usd into 600 yuan.. I was given only 100 notes which I imagine is a mission to get changed up into smaller notes.. Somehow I'm looking forward to my long haul in economy seat plane trip..

I fell asleep before take off, when I woke I still thought we were waiting at the gate, even for another half hour i was thinking we'd been delayed.. I took a look out the window and realised were already high up cruising..

As we were getting closer to Beijing i started to like my seat on this air china plane more and more.. I'd read from another travelpodder that they give you no legroom but I had plenty.. I didn't want it to end and start the arduous task of getting across town to my hostel, and love the pampering you get with long haul flights..

I thought i'd never see Thursday 19th 2009.. I was looking forward to the novelty by crossing the dateline but my flight left LA at 12:40am early thursday morning..

I learnt a few phrases on the plane..

Ni hao, hello

sheh sheh.. Thank you

Zai chen. Goodbye

I tried my first Ni Hao on the immigration officer, it worked and I was stamped through in a matter of seconds.. i was contemplating the "good job" button they have for you to evaluate staff, but gave it a miss as i thought maybe it signaled you were let through too easy and needed more questioning. a quick internal train to customs and as I was only carrying my backpack as hand luggage I was in a taxi into town and outside my hostel within the next 20 minutes..
